"To throw or cast through, over, or across."
Throwing things around has led to some historical events- at least as stories are told, such as the brick thrown through a window at Stonewall.
While this website does not endorse violent protest, the methods that go into ensuring safety and anonymity are admittedly fascinating. Some ways that people keep themselves safe, with their identity hidden, include the following:
- Wearing a face mask (important when in large crowds to prevent illness), durable, plain clothing, and sturdy shoes/boots.
- Bringing water (hydration or tear gas), milk (for pepper spray), a pen and paper, a small first aid kit, and a laminated copy of emergency phone numbers/medical information.
- Keeping the belongings brought to the protest in a small, durable bag.
- Leaving their phone at home and/or using a burner phone, if possible.
- Staying in groups, never going alone.
- Taking note of their surroundings, remaining alert.
- Studying their rights (or lack thereof).
